“The Nutcracker” VHS wall hanging

$450.00 Sold Out

Haha this is somehow the only picture I have of this commissioned piece, Maurice Sendak's "The Nutcracker"!

It was my first time watching this story and I didn't know how…creepy the uncle was. The parts I liked the most were the main character growing and blossoming, so I focused on her and just left the men out of it.

The colors I used represent the color palette of film, minus the red and yellow of the men's costumes.

I left the top fringe very long and tied it up with bells to resemble a stage with long curtains. Also, at the end, Clara is falling a long way down, and this fringe represents that fall as well.

At the top I wove in a strand of pearl-like beads to represent the tiara she is given as a girl at the Christmas party.
